Our client, Alcoa Corporation is an American industrial corporation. It is the world’s eighth largest producer of Aluminum, with corporate headquarters in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Alcoa conducts operations in 10 countries. Alcoa is a major producer of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina combined, through its active and growing participation in all major aspects of Industry: technology, mining, refining, smelting, fabricating and recycling.
Alcoa has recently acquired a new bauxite ore site in Guinea, Africa. They have hired us to study the market economics and determine whether they should mine the ore now or leave it for extraction in future.
Interviewer is expected to direct the case discussion using the following questionnaires. The assumptions are more important than the final values. The interviewer should challenge the candidate wherever necessary to justify the assumptions made. The final recommendation must be supported by detailed quantitative & qualitative analysis.
